Valentine's Beauty

Thursday, February 12, 2015

Love day (aka Valentine’s Day) is two days away, and I am here to show you my steps of getting a pretty, flawless makeup for the special day.  Mixing both drugstore and high-end makeup products, these steps will allow you to achieve a natural look with flushed cheeks, neutral eyes, and plum pink lips.
I used the same makeup products in my Be My Valentine shoot, so that is the look you can expect to achieve. This post is definitely different from my usual outfit posts, so I would love to hear what you think about it!

1. Moisturizer - Before you put anything on your face, it's important to always moisturize.  I feel that a moisturizer allows the foundation to blend in nicely on the skin, making it look more natural.  One of my all time favorite moisturizers is Moisture Surge by Clinique.
2. Face Primer - I have an oily T-zone so, a face primer is a must for me when I want my makeup to last all day.  A tried-and-true product of mine is the POREfessional by Benefit.
3. Foundation - The best liquid foundation for my skin type that I have been using for years is Superbalanced Makeup by Clinique.  It absorbs oil from my oily T-zone and moisturizes the drier parts of my face, leaving a flawless finish.
4. Concealer - MagicLumi by L'Oreal has the perfect thin, creamy texture that does an excellent job of concealing dark circles and minor hyperpigmentation on the skin.

5. Blush - How adorable is the packaging of this Physician's Formula blush in Rose?  It gives a gorgeous pale pink flush to the cheeks, perfect for the occasion.  To have the blush stay on longer, I like to use Posie Tint by Benefit before I put the blush on.  I feel that this check stain makes the cheeks look more natural and fresh.
6. Bronzer - Having a more round face, I always like to countour underneath my cheekbones and the sides of my forehead and nose to slim down my face.  My favorite bronzer at the moment is Chocolate Soleil by Too Faced.
7. Highlighter - For special occasions, I like to highlight the top of my cheekbones with High Beam by Benefit.  It gives the most beautiful and natural highlight to my face.

8. Eyeshadow Primer - Before I put anything on my lids, I apply this Stay Don’t Stray by Benefit so that my eyeshadow stays on all night; I have super oily eyelids!
9. Eyeshadow - When it comes to eyeshadow, I usually stick to my neutrals and the Lancome Color Design eyedashow quad has the best neutral colors for a special occasion.  I apply a darker color to my crease and a lighter color to my lids.  This opens up the eyes and gives them some drama.
10. Eyeliner I only use eyeliner to do little flicks at the end of my eyes, and the best drugstore eyeliner I’ve been using to do this is Revlon Colorstay eyeliner in black.  It is a creamy product yet it  has a great staying power.
11. Mascara - A recent favorite mascara of mine is ck one Volumizing Mascara by Calvin Klein, which is awesome for both length and volume.
12. Brow Gel - Brows are the most important features of your face because the shape of your brows can easily change your appearance.  This is a step I never skip, even for everyday makeup. To fill in and sculpt my eyebrows I use GimmeBrow by Benefit in medium/deep, and like the name says, this product literally gives you hairs where you need them.

13. Lipstick - For a special occasion like a Valentine’s Day date night, I love to use colors that stand out.  Since I decided to go with the pink theme, I have here two of my favorite Revlon lipsticks that when mixed together, give you the prettiest plum pink lips: Revlon 850 (Plum Velour) and Revlon 815 (Fuchsia Pink)

Hope you have enjoyed this beauty post, let me know if you would like to see more non-outfit posts!
